What to expect

The Festival of Higher Education will provide lots of opportunities for fresh thinking about what’s going on in higher education.

You’ll have access to cutting edge debate, expert panel sessions, big name speakers from outside the sector as well as from within, Q&As, interactive masterclasses and, of course, plenty of networking and social opportunities.

Go back to work refreshed and full of ideas after two days of new ideas and different perspectives.

Who’s it for?

The Festival of Higher Education is for anyone with a keen interest in UK higher education. Whether you work in higher education or simply have an interest in the future of universities, this is the only event you need to attend this year. Although there will be plenty of industry trends to help you keep on top of our fast moving sector, the Festival also brings the latest, most cutting-edge debates based on Wonkhe’s deep insights and analysis, and the leading community of HE policy wonks from across higher education - at every level and from every professional background.

Academics, policy wonks, SUs, business leaders, and journalists to communications and public affairs professionals, planners, civil servants, and politicians and everyone in between will be welcome and included at The Festival of Higher Education.

The programme

Over two action-packed days, The Festival of Higher Education will explore, unpack and offer a range of perspectives on many of the key themes facing universities today including:

  • Future skills needs
  • The workforce and graduate employability
  • Community organising
  • The politics of universities and where the public are in that
  • Looking ahead to the next General Election
  • Latest research findings
  • And many more!

A full programme will be launched in September, and we’ll be announcing speakers and sessions over the coming weeks and months.

Both days will run from 9.30 until 17.30 with some social events and receptions in the evening so please do plan for this.

The event will be fully catered so when booking, please do let us know any dietary requirements you may have.

Wonkhe and The University of London

The Festival of Higher Education replaces Wonkfest, Wonkhe’s previous jamboree of everything HE. After four successful festivals we decided to form a partnership with The University of London and will host the festival at a fabulous new home, the iconic Senate House.

Couple of sentences about why the partnership is beneficial
